This piece is suitable for only a massive wall, measuring 160x160cm. It features intricate details with oil paint, oil sticks, a gel medium, digitally manipulated photography, and a satin gloss varnish. I am incredibly proud of this work as it symbolizes a new direction I have been searching for, and I believe it is beautifully layered in this piece. The work’s title is ‘Illuminated Sky,’ there will be many more to follow in this style. All the works in this new series depict the observer looking through the branches of a tree to the sky. Since the sky is always changing and the leaves of a tree are constantly in motion, I chose to work with chrome paint. This use of light makes the painting itself seem to be in constant motion. The works’ texture and the oil stick’s matte appearance create a beautiful contrast that I am far from done exploring.
The many layers of the painting were created using gel medium, oil paint, oil sticks, and chrome paint, which I applied using tools such as my fingers, sponges, rollers, palette knives, and brushes. The painting is mounted on a linen aluminium 3D frame.
